2nd Feb 2010

Dear Lim Sek-Iong Sian-sin,

I am so sorry I have not replied to your kind letter (with cheque enclosed) before now. The truth is that living on my own and 91 years old, I find it hard to cope with all the business I should be doing.

I do, however, appreciate the fact that you still have me on your list of co-workers in Taiwan. I too am very worried about Taiwan’s present government. Why on earth did the Taiwanese people go back to choosing the KMT? I just can’t understand it. has the DPP been a failure in some way? But there seems nothing I can do about it. one small consolation is that I was recently given a new world atlas by my daughter (who was born in Tai-pak) which lists Taiwan as a separate independent country and says in spite of Chinese demands, there is little expectation that it will ever be “re-united” with the mainland.

Thank you very much for your greetings and the cheque. It was a most good-hearted gesture. I think all the same that you could now cross me off your list. I doubt if I could still be alive on earth in a year’s time.

Greetings and thanks to you all,

Boris Anderson
