Dear Brother Lin Shi-yang,

Thank you very much for your kind letter of 14 December, and especially for the very generous gift of $150. I am delighted and grateful for the kindness of the TCCCNA, and for your partnership in the ministry of the Gospel this expresses.

Though I do not get to New York often, I do have the blessing of being able to worship and fellowship with the Taiwanese Presbyterian Church of Greater Saint Louis. What a loving and caring Christian family they have been for me.

I must admit that I feel very strange, even self-centered as I speak simply of myself. The unfortunate reality, however, is that my wife, Phyllis, died just a week before Thanksgiving, so I am still getting used to being a single-person unit, rather than part of a couple. as we had been for upwards of 48 years. She had had a series of strokes over the past few years, which gradually weakened her and left her with decreasing strength and sight. During the days before her death and more recently since her death. the TPC has shown great concern and support, even to the extent of bringing meals for us. What a blessing and what a fine expression of the warmth of the Body of Christ.

I continue to teach part-time at Concordia Seminary here in Saint Louis. Travel was not easy for us when my wife was alive. Hopefully, now 1 will be able to travel a bit, and high on my priority list is a visit to Taiwan. I have not been back for seven or eight years. Another reason for going, I must admit, is that our son and family live just next door in Hong Kong.

I would like to send greetings through this letter to brothers and sisters, Taiwanese and foreign, wherever they may be. I pray God's blessings for you all as we enter through this new year (both solar and lunar), and I pray God's blessings as well on the church, the government, and the people of Taiwan.

P.S. Being a rabbit, I look forward to the coming Spring Festiva1.
